An international consultant in General and Digestive System Surgery, Dr. Lacy was the first surgeon in Spain to perform Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic surgery (NOTES) to extract a gallbladder orally (2007), or to use Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) in Obesity Surgery (2009), and to extract a rectal tumour through the anus (2010). He is currently recognised worldwide as a pioneer and expert in colon and rectal cancer surgery, bariatric surgery for morbid obesity and oesophagus cancer surgery, among others, using minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery.
